To be clear, this changes only the first season’s European matchups! This doesn’t change how teams qualify. In further seasons, the number of teams qualified from different countries will probably differ.

This simply corrects the annoying issue where in the first season, due to number of missing real teams, they get replaces by teams that should in no way participate in Europe that year.

The process:

• First I find out the number of teams missing from each competition
• Then I made a list of teams that these teams knocked out in the qualifiers, that did not get to participate in other competitions (i.e. didn’t drop down to Conference)
• Then I looked at the coefficient and made sure I only pick teams so that they woudn’t place way outside of their rating, for example, Sweden gets 4 participants in real life, while Norway only has one despite having a better coefficient. Switzerland or Romania had more teams participating in qualifiers, but it would put them equal with Belgium or Norway respectively in number of participants. That is why different teams were preferred.

In the end, the team replacements shown below will play the exact same matchups as the teams they are replacing.
